SAND is an indie print journal published in Berlin, featuring a curated selection of literary works and visual art from writers and artists around the world.
I was responsible for this issue’s design direction, layout and cover art. Public response was great – the issue sold out in months.
This Berlin-centric issue touches on how our identities are both formed and deformed by the spaces we inhabit, and features several authors who were from, visited, or greatly influenced by this unique city. I illustrated highly recognisable motifs from Berlin's Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain areas, as I aimed to encapsulate my own experience (and in turn the experiences of many) with living here as an expat.
